Tandoori chicken
Tandoori chicken is a popular Indian dish made by marinating chicken in yogurt and spices and then grilling or baking it in a tandoor, which is a clay oven. The result is tender, juicy chicken with a smoky flavor and a bright red color from the spices. It’s often served with naan bread, rice, and a side of chutney or raita.
To make tandoori chicken, you’ll need to marinate chicken pieces in a mixture of yogurt, lemon juice, spices, and herbs for several hours. Then, you can either grill the chicken on skewers or bake it in the oven until it’s cooked through. Here’s a delicious recipe which you can try at home :
Ingredients:
2 lbs chicken pieces (breasts, thighs, or drumsticks)
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp coriander
2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp garlic
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Juicy and crispy tandoori chicken
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, oil, and spices until well combined.
- Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat in the marinade material. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat up your grill.
- If using the oven, place the chicken pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or butter paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy. If using a grill, skewer the chicken pieces and grill for 10-12 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Serve hot with naan bread, rice, and chutney or raita.
